As Jack Mayhew’s life begins to unravel and memories of his tumultuous past resurface, all seems lost. In a moment of despair, he collapses into the sea off Amalfi, surrendering to his fate.
During his early years, Jack's self-doubt fuels both his ambition and his weakness for women. By adulthood, he has suffered at the hands of three people. As his business crumbles, driven by anger, Jack embarks on a journey of revenge and redemption. Success in the corporate world follows, but so does tragedy...
Three Down is a thought-provoking tale of love, loss, ambition and revenge.

Excellent
Jack's story from being a frightened eight-year-old left at boarding school, through to becoming a successful chairman and chief executive in his early thirties. Fantastic storyline skilfully bringing characters to life, couldn't put it down - it would make a great tv series or film.

Gripping
A great story of the ambitious Jack who eventually finds true love together with success in business but not before he has exacted retribution against three characters whose hands he has suffered at, although it ultimately ends in tragedy. Very well written.

An interesting read which does not sit in any one genre. I found myself liking and disliking the main character with equal intensity at times, which shows the level of engagement the author was able to create.

Richard Phillips does a fantastic job in writing this book, it had that feel that I was looking for from the genre. It had that feel that I was looking for and had a fascinating story. It was written well and that the characters worked well overall with the story. I thought the revenge element worked with this and was glad I read this.

A Tom Jones of the 21st century is born through Phillips’ character Jack Mayhew. Whilst extracting revenge on those who have wronged him, he learns to reflect upon his own flawed behaviour, sadly ending in personal tragedy. The vivid scenes of business life, workers’ rights and industrial strife are an authentic portrait of 1980s corporate Britain. Well done Richard!

A book about life and times of the charismatic Jack Mayhew as he romps through his early twenties working hard and dating harder. A double cross by an employee leads to Jack having to find more conventional employment with a large public listed company, rapidly being promoted and become chairman by the age of 35. Loved the descriptions of industrial strife in 1980s and Jack fining true love and happiness. And getting even with those who have wronged him in life. Always restless and looking for new challenges tragedy propels Jack forwards ….. I eagerly await the next chapter in the life of the irrepressible Jack … I’m sure there is another book waiting to be written ?
