Annie Stewart is a Cheltenham based author of a trilogy of books about the antics of a  mischievous border terrier called Wilf. Her engaging new children’s book Pickle Plays the Fiddle continues the adventures of Pickle the black and white cat (based on her own) and his canine companion Lily, an energetic Welsh Terrier puppy.

In these new stories, Lily is growing up and finding her paws a bit and Pickle is getting used to sharing his household with a dog! Meet a host of new characters and some old favourites as Pickle & Lily get involved with an eccentric artist, a village fete, and did we mention a pantomime, oh yes we did! The stories are full of humour for children and adults alike and have some good messages for young readers. They have an old-fashioned heartwarming feel to them and will appeal to animal lovers of all ages making them a popular choice for bedtime reading.  

Annie Stewart was born in Hertfordshire and attended private school until she was 18 years old. She was keen to get into the arts in some way, so after a brief spell at Foyles in the Charing Cross store, Annie went to Pitmans Secretarial College and got into Sotheby’s as a secretary. After working there for many happy years she moved to Suffolk with her then-husband and two children. When her children left home, Annie started writing seriously and published her first book, which is when she met her second husband, Philip at a Waterstones book signing. Annie and Philip now live in Cheltenham with their two cats and they are both passionate about children reading and writing. Annie runs creative workshops in schools called ‘Drawing with Words’ and also works in a special needs school in Cheltenham. The first book in this series Pickle & Lily was featured at the 70th anniversary of the Cheltenham Literary Festival in 2019.
