On the 24th December 2015, Denise Coates was told that she had breast cancer. Conquering Cancer Together is about the impact that breast cancer has had, not only on her but on those around her. It’s about hope, it’s about awareness of early detection and it’s about the support of other inspirational women who have shared their survival stories and tips. At the forefront of Denise’s mind was for our future generations and education.

Denise’s breast cancer journey led her to discover her inner determination and resilience, which in turn gave her an overwhelming sense of wanting to give back. Since then Denise has become a media volunteer for CRUK and has been a charity ambassador for the L&D Hospital and is currently a volunteer fundraiser for the L&D Breast Cancer Unit, sharing her story in order to help others on their journey.

Conquering Cancer Together is part cancer memoir but also a true story about gaining an appreciation of life and wanting to give something positive back.

“Denise has worked tirelessly to support local breast cancer services as well as cancer care... I trust that her story will bring inspiration and hope to women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.”

 – Dr. Ruth James, BA, MBChB, FRCS

Inspirational read gives hope and lights a pathway forward for anyone facing a challenge.

Highly recommend this short easy to read account of the author Denise’s journey from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. It contains coping strategies, cognitive behaviour therapy and other techniques that anyone facing a challenge could use. It is an inspirational guide through the life changing event of being diagnosed with cancer. Her dedication to give back is a triumph and is to be applauded. I’m sure it has helped with recovery and the strong mental mindset she adopted at the outset. A great honest read and will be buying more to send to people facing life’s challenges. When you are helpless the gift of hope is what you can give to someone. Well done I’m sure you have more of this helpful hopeful force of nature attitude for us all. Another book please.

Great guide to those who stare into the face of Cancer!

As a 6 year survivor of HER2 positive breast cancer, I don’t think I could have made it without my ‘warrior sisters’ such as Denise Coates. Although I never met Denise her book ‘Conquering Cancer Together’ is an extraordinary thoughtful guide to those who stare into the face of cancer .Her book details her journey from her diagnosis, to treatment and recovery. Her extremely personal story will resonate with all survivors, and their families, and give them a realistic view of what to expect as their worlds are turned on their head. Her chapter on Survivor Tips should be shared in every oncology office in all the world. My personal story which Denise included on page 61 shows that cancer can make us into new and better human beings. So please…if you know anyone who has been diagnosed, or is undergoing treatment, buy this book for them and their families. It will be the best gift you could ever give.

I have known Denise since our school days and dip in and out of each others lives through rugby and a school memory site to stay in touch with ex pupils. This book takes us through Denise's journey from diagnosis to the all clear, her navigation of operations, consultants, surgeons, nursing staff, her giving back by raising awareness and funds for the cancer charities. I was in awe of Denise after reading this and truly humbled. Well done Denise ❤
