What A Wag! is an engaging collection of poems written from the dogs’ perspective. It is the eighth book of original metric rhyming verse by Gill Rowe and contains beautiful hand-drawn illustrations.
Starting with the Alaskan Malamute and Alsatian, What A Wag encapsulates the charming traits and personalities of fifty different dog breeds. Whether you’re dotty about the Doberman, mad about Miniature Poodles or crazy for Cavapoos, there’s truly something for everyone in this cheery homage to dogs.
Gill Rowe is the author of Pirouetting Hippos, How Do I Look?, You’re Telling Me!, Widening Horizons, A Whiff of Rosemary, Stalking the Crilbit and Tails You Win. Gill has worked as a freelance journalist and teacher. She also paints and has exhibited in London and elsewhere. Married, with children and grand-children, she lives in London. Over the years canine family members have included Cairn Terriers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Dachshunds and Labradors.

To be honest I downloaded this book thinking it was something other than it was but I read straight through and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a cute, funny and in part informative collection of short dog-themed poems.
I come from a family who have owned many breeds of dogs and these poems are cleverly written in the way they describe them. I also learnt a few things about some of the breeds I myself have owned too. I miss having a dog, I personally think a house is not a home without one. 🐾
