Description

Mungo, a fisherman in Cornwall with Gambian and Cornish roots, navigates a life shaped by racism and his past as a bond salesman.

Married to Aileen, a former securities lawyer now working on asylum cases, Mungo uncovers a plot threatening his livelihood. Initially suspecting Meredith, a foul-mouthed environmentalist, and Tristan, a conspiracy-loving farmer, he learns the real villains are smuggling underage Gambians into the UK for forced labour.

With help from Meredith and Tristan, can Mungo infiltrate the smuggling ring in Calais? Can he uncover the truth before it’s too late?

James ‘Leakyboots’ Batty, spent his early childhood in the Sudan, and was educated in the UK. He worked as a headmaster, accountant, and global management consultant, living in the Gambia, Botswana, and New York. In 1999, he moved to Cornwall and later founded a charity with his wife, supporting displaced people. He has volunteered in refugee camps and writes under the pseudonym ‘Leakyboots,’ inspired by anglers' websites.
