Helen was born in Northumberland and after attending school at the original home of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, made the terrible mistake of studying Accountancy at University. This meant that although no-one wanted to talk to her at parties, she secured employment with a firm of Chartered Accountants where she entertained her colleagues for eight years whilst pretending to know and understand, exactly what she was doing. Despite having to undertake office work to keep her horse in shoes and her daughter in Xbox tokens, she has spent most of her life working with horses across many equestrian disciplines.
During the COVID-19 lockdown in the spring of 2020, Helen read so many books that she had to get up extra early to greet the postman and then hide her newly purchased books in the kitchen bin to stop her husband finding them. During this time, Helen also started work on her first novel, Silver Spurs and a Twelve Pound Heart. She hopes the story will uplift the reader and take them to a small hamlet in rural Northumberland, where the laughter is loud, the gossip is juicily whispered and where love, really does conquer all.
Helen still lives in Northumberland with her husband and teenage daughter. They are accompanied by a rabbit named Neville who their plumber rescued from the side of the road, a useless cat who refuses to sit on anyone's knee and a horse who has a strenuous aversion to the Vet.
