Ness Lambert is a local news reporter – but she wants to be more. When her boyfriend challenges her to stop dreaming about becoming a prize-winning author and start writing, she joins a local writing group for support.

At first, Ness is disappointed by the unlikely collection of characters who gather in the pub around the corner. But she quickly finds herself drawn in by the novel extracts they share each week, especially the stories circulated by the evasive, enigmatic Holly.
