After finishing University, Michael Brown, enrols on a course to teach English in Japan, determined to avoid all adulthood responsibilities.

Upon his arrival in Tokyo, Michael meets Johnny, who is casual in both truth and morals. Michael is then abruptly whisked away to teach for a year in the Japanese countryside. During this time, he stumbles upon a centuries-old mystery sparking a determination to try to unravel it during his upcoming summer break.

Returning to Tokyo, Michael meets the beautiful and mysterious Chihiro before reuniting with Johnny. Persuading them to join his adventure, the trio embarks on a journey across Japan through famous cities and remote locations. They are soon faced with ruthless adversaries and natural perils in a foreign land and culture. Events begin to unfold that reveal a traitor among them, Michael only has his wits to survive with time rapidly running out…
