Manx born Judith has been composing stories since childhood. First plays for her toys, then a play  at school, performed with classmates when she was ten. In her teens, when the Beatles were singing ‘Love me do,’ she was taking a secretarial course. She found touch-typing inspirational –no need to look at the keys. Wow! Marriage and the fun of small children followed before an eventual move to the country where, with three offspring at school each day she had ample time to write. Submissions were regular and as regularly rejected. After an Open University Arts Foundation Course she focused on short stories, of a comical, quirky nature and soon acceptance became the norm. Her children grew, and flew, life changed, she worked in a library, read voraciously between stamping books. Moving to the south of the island she applied for a post with Manx National Heritage as a medieval castle guide. This position was a revelation, immense stone walls imbued with memories of past lives; a place of contrast, frequently noisy with school and coach parties yet as silent as a grave at the start and end of day. Now retired, Judith still writes…with optimism.

Two collections of Manx based short stories by Judith C Davis ‘Climbing to Cregneash’ and ‘Rattling to Ramsey, are available as e-books from Amazon.co.uk.
