Richard Williams

Richard Williams grew up on Mersea Island in Essex and went on to study Creative Writing at University of Roehampton. He has a passion for live music and record collecting, and is a long-suffering follower of Colchester United Football Club.

Richard says: "Having played guitar in a semi-successful indie band in the early 00’s, the toilet-venue circuit, as it’s affectionately known, is a world that I know all too well and one I thought was under-explored in fiction. With 'Fragments of Youth' I wanted to really try and capture the ups and downs of being in a band and the cut-throat nature of the music industry, as well as the normal trials and tribulations of being a teenager and trying to find your way in life."

"I hope that the book resonates with music-lovers especially - those familiar with cider-stained dancefloors and sweaty mosh pits - but at the heart of it is also a universal love story and the tale of a young couples' resolve in the face of adversity."
