A Coat Called Maude
The idea for my first novel came to me in a charity shop. As I was trying on a coat I wondered about the story behind it. Who had worn it? Where had it been? I took my idea to the Faber Academy - Writing a Novel course, and as it evolved from there.
My career was in nursing and I was fortunate to be able to combine my work with my passion for travel, doing voluntary projects in India, Guyana and Madagascar. Most of my writing to date has been health and travel related. Writing a novel was a huge step into the unknown world of publishing.
When I'm not travelling I live in North London with my husband and Morgan, the cockapoo.
