Steve Lunn

Raised in a pit village in Derbyshire, Steve Lunn now lives in Oxford, where his debut novel, The Price of Dormice, is set.

He worked on hill farms in the White Peak and Baden-Württemberg; in software design at BAe, Morganite, Telecomputing and Softlink; and in education at the Open University and primary schools in Chadlington and around Oxfordshire. He co-founded Southern England’s first community-owned wind farm (Westmill), campaigns on environmental issues, and actively engages in conservation and re-wilding, particularly with BBOWT and the Friends of Burgess Field.

Soon after his debut novel The Price of Dormice was published, his first collection of short fiction came out - We're Not Getting Divorced and other stories. Both are available in all good bookshops (as they say).

Steve shares his life with artist Imogen Rigden, their extended family, and a young dog.

The Price of Dormice and We're Not Getting Divorced and other stories both launched in October 2024.

Steve's talks in libraries and literary events prove especially relevant in the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Arc/Corridor, where many people are still unaware of the decades of intensive development that this and earlier governments have set in train for them with suspiciously clandestine stealth.

Steve's article about his writing and volunteering with BBOWT in The Oxford Times and his blog for The Mammal Society, 'Nightingale Dreams and The Price of Dormice', attract interest, and lead to several radio interviews.

The Price of Dormice is recommended in Library Christmas Book Reviews and by Amazon in it’s Top Picks for You, and appears alongside the biggest names in fiction on table displays in bookshops.

An audiobook of The Price of Dormice is published by Ulverscroft, read by Olivier-award-winning actor Will Close.
